Weekend in Tecklenburg, Germany 11.12.2010
Berlin, Germany.
To sum up Berlin - probably the best word is ‘grubby’.
I stayed in Savignyplatz in the western part of the city near Zoo Station. Berlin is northern European and very hard working, it’s the sort of place where women walk around with tattoes all over their arms and people swig beer in the parks at night.
I liked the Tiergarten, its a large park in the centre of the city and climbing to the top of the Siegessäule was also brillant if not a little claustrophobic. Being a lover of everything historical and preserved I was naturally drawn to Berlin-Mitte which used to be the capital of the GDR.
