Italy

duomo, milano

I always hate seeing people with machine guns but I guess it is just another side effect of our modern times. I really liked Milan, every afternoon that I was in this city I would go and sit in the gardens of Santa Maria della Grazie (a Dominican convent on the west side of the city) to escape from the constant noise of obnoxious moped engines.

Italy was nothing like I had imagined though, sometimes you know a country even before you arrive but Italy was different. All my friends had told me about how hot Italian men looked but when I was there I didn’t even see one man I thought attractive.

Verona, Italy

This was the moment when I realised Italy just didn’t do it for me. It was more the style of architecture, I know, Italy of all places, one of the wonders of Europe. I didn’t see anything in the actual design of the buildings and the Italian street life was too focused on fashion which is always a negative. The individual Italians I met were really lovely, and the food superb!

Verona, Italy.

Verona is the city of love, the city of the fictional Romeo & Juliet by William Shakespeare. There is house of Romeo and the house of Juliet although they never actually lived there. The more you walk through the alleyways of Verona getting closer to the house of Juliet you begin to notice scribbles on the walls eventually turning to layers and layers of graffiti, love hearts, names, dates, all proclamations of love.
