
I always thought Poland would be very Stalinist but surprisingly it wasn’t. Some parts of Kraków reminded me of Italy, just like in the photo of Zamek Królewski. I travelled alone across Poland with my backpack, again always trying to step into the past. Warsaw was far more harrowing, I don’t know if it was the grey weather or the snow, on every corner it seemed there was a statue for those who had died in the war. Walking through the Old Town area of Warsaw was very cool, large sheets of snow slipping off of the slanted roofs and burying people.
